York University offers a wide variety of Orientation programming for all new and incoming students. It is a great way to meet new people, discover campus resources, and learn all about your degree while providing you with a smooth transition into university.

Winter Orientation

Winter Orientation is for all new incoming students, including transfer and mature students. Orientation will take place on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 for all Colleges except Vanier. Orientation for Vanier College students will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018.

Students will receive an email inviting them to RSVP for Winter Orientation via their College. A student's College is like their home away from home and serves to provide students with academic and social support throughout their time at York. Students who are unsure what College they are affiliated with can use our College Finder tool.

Schedule of Activities


The morning portion of the schedule will be hosted by your college. Here, students will learn more about their program of study, specific academic services, social activities, recreational activities and facilities. Additionally, students will meet important members of their College such as the faculty, staff and College Master.


Campus Fair : Students will be escorted to the Campus Services Fair taking place in Vari Hall from11:30am to 2:30pm.  Students will have a chance to connect directly with key campus partners who provide centralized services such as financial information, learning resources, security, transportation agencies, athletics, health and wellness resources to name a few.

Campus Tours/Find Your Classroom: We will also be offering Keele campus tours throughout the Campus Services Fair to help students find their classrooms and become familiar with key resources they will need to succeed in their first few weeks at York University.
