Ask Me

Calling on all current students, faculty and staff to be part of our Welcome to York Campaign!

Just a few of our friendly staff and student ASK Me Ambassadors

What is the ASK Me program?

The ASK Me Program is designed to support incoming and returning students with their York University transition at the start of each semester - September, January, and May. If students have questions, we’re here to answer!

What’s involved with being an ASK Me Ambassador?

A new student's first weeks on campus are transformative and will set the course for their years ahead. By simply being a friendly face who points out a building or helps identify a course code, you'll be making a huge difference! This is why we are asking faculty, staff and upper-year students to sign up to be an ASK Me Ambassador and help us welcome returning and incoming students.

There are several ways to volunteer as well as four paid casual positions.

Volunteer:

  1. to wear an ASK Me lanyard -
Show your York pride by wearing an ASK Me lanyard around campus and support students while you’re heading to a meeting, grabbing lunch, commuting to or from campus, grabbing a coffee, etc. We ask that you wear your lanyard throughout the first week of classes so that you'll be easily recognizable as an ASK Me Ambassador.  This option is only available to staff or faculty members. (no in-person training required).
  2. for an ASK Me Booth shift -
Volunteer at an ASK Me booth and support new students in helping them find their way during the first few days of classes. Four booths will be located across campus in hight traffic locations where students can conveniently locate them. This option is open to students, staff or faculty members.
  3. for York Orientation Day -
Volunteer at York Orientation Day on Tuesday, September 3rd. You'll be helping to support one of the biggest events of Orientation Week where students will get to meet professors and upper-year students from their program as well as tour campus, and attend the official York Welcome Ceremony which ends with a spectacular fireworks display. This option is open to students, staff or faculty members.
